Ballet de La Haye - Dance of the city

As in previous years, DeDDDD will once again go on tour this spring along the Cultural Anchors of The Hague.

The city of The Hague itself is this year's source of inspiration, the overarching theme of the performance.

Among other things, we draw inspiration from the different cultures that our city is rich in, and from the Royal Family to football club ADO, the many civil servants who work in the city and the music that Mozart wrote at the age of 10 when he stayed in the residence.

Artistic director Thom Stuart has a number of reprises on the programme. In addition, he has also written two of his premieres.

The young resident choreographer Kiran Bonnema is also creating a new work; 'Madurodans', just as "small" as the buildings in this miniature city.

By the internationally renowned choreographer Wubkje Kuindersma, best known in the Netherlands for her choreographies for the Dutch National Ballet, DeDDDD will reprise 'Tabula Scripta'. Created in 2021 for the live streams of 'Royal Ballet', but now this duet will be seen in the theaters.

By the famous choreographer Nils Christe, DeDDDD dances 'Storm', the last part of his 'Four Sea Interludes'.
This ballet is about the sea and in this fourth part we see four men in a storm at sea, who are awaited by their wives on their return, but since one man did not survive, it ends with his widow's solo. This fact is not strange to older Scheveningen women and is therefore reminiscent of the image of the fisherman's wife on the boulevard/corner of Keizerstraat;  the 'monument to all those who sailed and did not return'.
Christe created this ballet in 1982 for the Nederlands Dans Theater.
